It's never to early to get your little one started on learning the basics.  I have a very active little guy who needed something that required him to sit down for a little while and FOCUS.  He was only 2 so I knew he wasn't going to grasp the entire learning concepts of it all but it definitely gave him something to do for a good chunk of time.  I searched online for materials to print and came across some GREAT stuff.  Some were lessons that cost quite a bit for what I needed it for and others were free but didn't quite have everything I wanted to include.  I also saw on Pinterest these cute little binders called "Busy Binders" which included a lot of great ideas to include and after a ton of scrolling and pinning, I decided to just design and create my own little busy binder.

Once I created what I envisioned, I printed, cut, laminated and assembled it all and VIOLA I had a cute little busy binder for my little one.  Below you will find all the steps you need to create your own. I've even included links to download some freebies that may help you get started. ENJOY!!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

PRINTABLES - See Links Below

PAPER - 20LB WILL WORK
SCISSORS OR CUTTING MACHINE

LAMINATING SHEETS

1-2" BINDER

3-HOLE PUNCH

OPTIONAL ITEMS:

DRY ERASE MARKERS

SMALL VELCRO

1.  PRINT ALL THE PAGES ( EITHER SINGLE OR DOUBLE SIDED; YOUR
PREFERENCE) ON 8.5X11 STANDARD TEXT PAPER.  YOU MAY PRINT
ON CARD STOCK IF YOU PREFER, HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE GOING
TO LAMINATE, I DON’T RECOMMEND CARD STOCK AS IT MAY BE
TOO THICK.

2.  PRINT/CUT THE PAGES REFERENCED TO CUT, AS WELL AS THE
SVG FILES TO BE USED IN COORDINATION WITH THE CORRESPONDING WORKSHEETS. PLEASE NOTE: SVG FILES CAN BE PRINTED AND CUT OR CAN BE USED IN YOUR MACHINE CUTTER, IF APPLICABLE. FOR BEST RESULTS, PRINT/CUT TO SCALE 8.5”X11” IN SIZE.

3.  ONCE ALL IS PRINTED AND CUT, LAMINATE EACH PAGE ACCORDING TO THE ORDER IN WHICH YOU WANT THEM TO BE PRESENTED.  YOU MAY LAMINATE THE CUT OUTS, AS WELL, IF YOU WANT TO PROLONG THE LIFE OF THEM.  YOU WILL NEED TO CUT THEM TO SHAPE, ONCE YOU LAMINATE THOSE.

4. ADHERE VELCRO TO ALL MATCHING WORKSHEETS AND THEIR PIECES.  BE SURE TO ADHERE VELCRO ACCORDING THEIR INSTRUCTIONS OR THEY WON’T STICK TO EACH OTHER.

5. PUNCH HOLES TO SUIT THE NEEDS OF EITHER YOUR BINDER OR RINGS TO KEEP WORKBOOK TOGETHER.

6. ONCE IT’S ALL COMPLETE, YOUR CHILD IS READY TO LEARN AND ENJOY THE WORKBOOK. USE DRY ERASE MARKERS TO BE ABLE TO REUSE OVER AND OVER FOR REPETITIVE LEARNING SKILLS.

There you have it! Easy, Right? This is how I chose to put it together but there are so many ways to utilize these worksheets.  I like the laminating idea because you can reuse them over and over.  I use dry erase markers for easy cleaning but I've also used regular crayola markers, as well as crayons. The crayola markers don't show up too well on the lamination but cleans very well.  The crayons work well for tracing but you need to work a little harder when wiping it off.  Just don't use permanent markers or you won't be able to reuse the worksheets.

If you choose to do the cut outs for matching, I highly recommend laminating AFTER cutting all the pieces out. You will have to cut them out again once laminated, but that will prolong the life those little pieces. I also recommend using these little guys for the sticking. These Velcro Dots are tiny enough to fit on all the tiny pieces an have a great hold.  I recommend the larger Velcro dots for the larger pieces (shapes, numbers, etc..).

Binders are a cheap way to store them or you can get a key ring just to keep all the worksheets together.  I like to store all the pieces in a little pencil bag, which also fits perfectly in the binder. It is a little process to put together, especially if you cut, laminate and Velcro but IT IS WORTH IT and a really big hit with the littles. Below you will find the free printable workbook.
