CHEERS TO GETTING OLDer!
My sisters and I recently threw a party for my dad and granny for their 80th and "90th" birthdays. I must say it was a lot more difficult getting them both there at the time we wanted than actually putting it all together....but needless to say it ended up being a great night. The food was good, the music was great and my granny (who's pretty much 90) danced all night and stayed 'til the very end. I must admit I think I was ready to call it a night at 9pm. (Mom life is hard.)
But let's talk about my favorite part of planning parties.....DECOR. Well, when I thought of the ages they were turning, one thing came to mind. Vintage. I wanted it to be fun but elegant at the same time.....so we stuck with blacks, golds and light pinks....to go with both a masculine and feminine touch. At first I wasn't sure how it would all go together but it ended up looking so cute!
Every party must have a photo op. Everything about ours was thrown together in a hurry but it still came out really cute and was a big hit. We got most the decor for the backdrop at hobby lobby. We had my wonderfully talented cousins from "A Vintage Affair" create those beautiful paper flowers. I designed and printed out all the signs and props. Put them on sticks and in frames and ladies and gentlemen we have photo props.
I'm obsessed with birthday charts. I couldn't think of a better way to dress up the cake table then with cute birthday charts and a banner or two.
I printed out some cute and catchy labels on sticker paper and put them on empty wine bottles....and we just so happened to have mason jars with gold glitter.....we alternated with each table and threw in some cute (but stinky) daisies that we picked by hand.
Overall the party was a hit. Great food. Great people. Great everything.
